Osseo Area Schools - ISD 279 was looking to update existing monument signs as well as incorporate their logo into new wall signs. With 11 different schools and facilities getting new signs, collecting all the information and having detailed surveys was very important.

Project management important to managing multiple locations

Osseo Area Schools has many locations under its umbrella. Part of our focus was to incorporate a consistent brand across the different sites. We collected information on existing signs and buildings for the following schools and facilities:

  • Birch Grove Elementary School for the Arts
  • Cedar Island Elementary School
  • Crest View Elementary School
  • Edinbrook Elementary School
  • Fair Oaks Elementary School
  • North View Junior High School
  • Osseo Education Center
  • Osseo Ice Arena
  • Palmer Lake Elementary School
  • Willow Lane Early Childhood Center
  • Osseo Area Learning Center

Staying in communication with the facilities team so they understood our timing and mobilizations on site was extremely important. When working with schools, our number one priority is communication and letting the right people know when and where we’ll be.

Our project management team worked with their team to create a plan that would cause the least amount of disruption to students, staff and visitors.

Consistent Design

All 11 schools and buildings had different architecture, making it really important to brand each building with consistent signage so that visitors knew whatever building they were at was part of Osseo Area Schools.

Our design team created a complete sign package to tie all of the buildings together.

Each monument sign had the school’s name added to the top of the cabinet using flat cut aluminum letters to add dimension. The non-illuminated cabinets were painted to match the district’s blue color and we tied the district’s logo onto the pole covers.

The wall signs were all flat cut aluminum letters and the colors varied depending on the building color. We used silver on dark backgrounds and the district’s blue on light backgrounds. New, more prominent address numbers were added to make them more visible.

Project was a success

Overall, the project went very smoothly. By creating and communicating our plan with the customer, there were no surprises. Osseo Area Schools is still a very good customer and we have worked with them on other small projects throughout the years.
