New Horizon Academy
New Horizon Academy is a Minnesota based childcare company which began serving children in 1971. Since then, New Horizon has grown to 100 locations in Minnesota, Idaho, Iowa, Colorado and Kansas. Their team reached out to Spectrum about updating branding for their Minnesota locations. They were looking for a partner that was responsive, timely and to help guide them through the process of a brand update.
The Process
There were 10 priority locations to start the brand update which meant surveys, photos and measurements were required to determine what each location had for existing signs. Our teams had set meetings to discuss what was possible for timing, access and any possible obstacles we needed to work around.
After surveys were complete, we met with their marketing and construction teams about use of colors and materials for the different sign types to help them achieve their desired look for the new signage.
Across all locations, sign types included:
-
Refacing and repainting of existing freestanding signs with the new logo
-
Removing the 'Flower and Hearts' logo from on building signs and adding the new 'Sun' logo
- Retrofitting existing freestanding signs that utilized fluorescent lighting with new high intensity LEDs
- Installing new LED channel letter sets to bring additional visibility to the childcare centers a select locations
- Installing new freestanding signs at select locations to highlight location entrances and to bring brand awareness
Executing the Brand Update
After going through city code research, the design process and fabrication of the different sign types we began coordinating installations with their team. Because of the number of locations and being a childcare center, we wanted to ensure they know when we'd be onsite.
The End Result
The coordination and communication between our two teams is what ultimately led to a successful project and partnership.
What started as a 10 location brand update turned into 30 locations across Minnesota as well as the opportunity to serve New Horizon Academy on a national level.
