Central Park Commons is a bustling, mixed-use hub offering medical, retail, grocery and restaurant businesses. The 50 acre site boasts tenants from all of the national chains, and is located in Eagan, MN. Spectrum Signs was selected by CSM to provide a complete sign package for the complex. We also did some of the signage for tenants.
We start every project by listening to the customer. CSM wanted to take advantage of the fact that the large property was ringed on three sides by major roads. They needed a sign plan that would provide the best visibility for the complex and its tenangs.

It all starts with a plan

CSM provided conceptual drawings for signage and we took those concepts and brought them to life. We worked directly with their construction team and architect to determine final design, best practices for fabricating the signs, final placement and coordination to make sure there was adequate structure in place for the new signs. Our permitting team researched the City of Eagan codes so that we could provide the maximum amount of signs and coverage.

After pulling together all of the information, we recommended six monument signs, two pylon signs, directional signage and a gateway sign.

To showcase the retail complex, we designed a massive 46.5 foot wide illuminated monument sign built in an arc. The curved sign landmarks the entrance to the retail complex with its black cabinet with royal gold pearl lettering and a brick base to match the buildings’ architecture.

Behind the entrance sign is a 20 foot high by 36 foot wide directory letting people know what stores are located in the complex. The sign has panel inserts that display the tenants brand and logo.

Two pylon signs towering 27 feet above the ground beckon shoppers to the retail complex off of Yankee Doodle Road and Pilot Knob Road.

Six monument signs were strategically placed around the property to direct people to entrances and the tenants located at that entrance. The monument signs were spaced out along each of the busy roads providing maximum coverage.

A gateway sign featuring a 22 foot wide sign mounted on a curved gate welcomes people into the opposite side of the complex.

Management of national brands tenant needs

The next phase was to work with the 25 tenants of Central Park Commons. Spectrum Signs was tasked with providing tenant signs to insert into the monument and pylon signs, and we did some of the tenant signs above their retail locations.
With so many tenants, the project management team was integral to keeping the project running smoothly. Many of the tenants were well known national retailers who wanted premium brand exposure so following their brand guidelines became imperative.

Getting 25 tenants’ brand guidelines took a lot of time and management. Once we understood the brand guidelines, we were able to create mock ups for each tenant. Then each tenant had to approve the mock up and sign off on the design so we could get the sign into production.

Once in production, color checks were made to make sure that we got the brand colors right.

Install works its magic

There were 25 tenant signs that had to be inserted into six monument signs and two pylons signs. There was a lot of coordination to make sure the correct tenant signs were placed in the corresponding monument or pylon signs. The install team managed the whole process and got the signs installed correctly and on time.

Large scale project successfully completed

This complex project was completed on time and within budget. CSM and the tenants were very happy with the end results that have led to a successful, bustling mixed-use hub for the City of Eagan.
