LED Channel Letters Are A Perfect Choice For Your Next Business Sign

Which Style Is Best Suited For Your Business?

You see them everywhere you go.  LED channel letters are displayed on office buildings, retail stores and even hospitals and banks.  But not all of them are the same.  Some are face-illuminated, halo-illuminated, in logo format or in a standard font.   So how do people decide what type of channel letter is best for their business?

LED Face Illuminated LettersLED Face Illuminated Channel Letters

Face illuminated channel letters are fabricated out of aluminum with translucent acrylic for the faces.  They have LED modules concealed on the inside of each letter which provides fluent illumination through the front of the letter.  Here are some of the reasons customers choose this style over others.

  • They are often the best choice for viewing from longer distances.  Brilliant LED illumination and thick letter strokes are the perfect combination for signs that need to be read from a distance.
  • They can either be mounted flush to the wall or to an aluminum raceway. Raceways are used for holding the electrical components of the letters. They also require less mounting holes for the sign which is preferred by many building owners. The raceway is painted to match the building so that it blends into the background.  Flush mount letters give a cleaner look, because you remove the shadows given off the raceway.
  • LED face illuminated channel letters give the option of day/night visibility.  Using dark letters isn't ideal for face illumination.  Dark faces won't give you the same brilliant illumination as white or light colored faces.  In these situations we always recommend using a perforated 3M vinyl on the face.  The perforations allow the light through giving excellent illumination at night.

LED Halo Illuminated LettersLED Halo-Illuminated Letters

These are fabricated exactly like the reverse channel letters but have LEDs installed. LED halo illuminated letters are typically not recommended for all wall types.  Light colored stucco, concrete and aluminum are often the best options for a background.  Where dark masonry walls such as brick, block or rock tend to absord or distort the illumination, so the light isn't as brilliant.  Customers often choose this style of sign because of these benefits.

  • LED halo-Illuminated letters give a subtle illumination.  While they still give brilliant light, halo letters have a softer look. This is preferred when going for a classy looking sign.
  • One of the advantages with LED halo illuminated letters is that they perfect for up close viewing.  They have nice edges and don't have the trim or deep returns of a face illuminated channel letter.  So it is a very clean looking letter.
  • They are great for interior or exterior applications.  Because of the subtle illumination, this style can be used in the interior

LED illuminated channel letters are the perfect way to display who you are and what you do.  Whether you want that to be reflected by soft and subtle halo-illumination or bright and bold face-illumination, the choice is up to you.  If you have questions on what would work best for you business, contact Spectrum Sign Systems today!  We're always here to help.
